Have you ever found yourself in a strange place you never expected to be? Maybe you’ve looked back at your life and though: how did I get here? Was it coincidence, was it fate, or was it something bigger and stranger at work? This week Pastor Nicole explores this question through one of the bible’s stranger and underappreciated stories. Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8.
This story is more than just a strange encounter on a deserted road. It’s a powerful lesson in faith, obedience, and inclusivity. What makes this story even more compelling is the deeper message of belonging. The Ethiopian eunuch was a person who had been marginalized, dehumanized, considered unclean. Thus, they were shut out from worshiping God and experiencing community with His people. Yet, through a divinely orchestrate encounter with Philip. In this strange moment, the eunuch discovers they’re not just included in God’s plan but valued and embraced in the Kingdom of God.
Where might be God leading you? Are there people or situations in your life that feel like they’re outside of your comfort zone? But, what if you looked at them like opportunities for something greater? How can we, as followers of Jesus, move beyond mere tolerance to truly embracing and including others??
This is more than just a strange story. It is a reminder that God is calling us to step out of our comfort zones, to go where it feels unfamiliar or even uncomfortable, and extend radical inclusivity to all people.
