A Message About Brokenness, Grace, and Hope
In this message, we explore the truth that God Uses Broken People through the unexpected story of Paul and Eutychus in Acts 20. During a late-night gathering, Paul keeps teaching until midnight. Eventually, a young man named Eutychus falls asleep, falls from a window, and loses his life.
However, the story does not end with brokenness.
Paul runs toward Eutychus, embraces him, and God restores his life.
Through this strange moment in scripture, we discover a powerful truth: brokenness is not the end of our story.
God Uses Broken People With Real Stories
Many people know Paul as a leader, teacher, and writer in the early church. However, Paul’s journey started very differently.
Before becoming Paul, Saul caused deep harm. He chased certainty, control, and religious approval. Then, an encounter with Jesus changed everything.
Paul understood brokenness because he experienced it himself.
Spiritually, Paul needed transformation.
Physically, Paul experienced weakness.
Relationally, Paul knew rejection and isolation.
Yet, God continued working through his story.
Finding Hope When Life Still Feels Broken
Sometimes we imagine healing means everything becomes easy. However, Paul’s life reminds us that restoration does not remove every struggle.
Paul still faced hardship, pain, and uncertainty.
Instead of hiding his weakness, he learned to see God’s grace within it.
This message reminds us that God does not wait for perfect people. God works through people carrying questions, wounds, doubts, and difficult stories.
The broken places we carry do not disqualify us from love.
Jesus Meets Us in Our Brokenness
Ultimately, the story of Paul and Eutychus points us back to Jesus.
Jesus enters into our pain instead of avoiding it.
He moves toward the hurting.
He restores what others overlook.
Because of this, we can bring every part of ourselves to God — including the pieces we wish we could hide.
Faith does not require pretending everything is okay.
Instead, faith invites us to trust that God can still bring healing, hope, and new life.
This message challenges us to remember that God Uses Broken People every day.
Our scars, questions, and struggles are not the end.
They are places where grace can begin.
