Joy to the world

Hillsong Worship

David Thomas

Teaching Minister

I am a “born and raised” North Carolina guy who grew up going to church every time the doors were open. I have been involved in ministry since I was 17, serving in many different roles from youth ministry, speaking at conferences and youth rallies, pastoring, music ministry, church planting, and working for the Baptist State Convention of NC in youth evangelism. I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work/Sociology, Southeastern Seminary with a Master of Divinity in Counseling and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Master of School Administration. I moved to SWFL in the summer of 2020 to serve as a school principal.

I have been an educator for the past 22 years serving in almost every position in the school system; teaching, coaching, athletic director, School Counselor, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal and Principal. I have been a School Principal since 2013 and loved serving in that capacity.

Outside of Refuge

As a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, I am a huge Tarheel fanatic. During basketball season you will find me glued to the TV screaming for my team. I have been married to my soulmate and best friend, Adrian, since March 2021. We live in Fort Myers with our four four-legged “kids”, Cooper, Olaf, Finley and Lexie.
