Catch Up on Acts B.C.

We are continuing our SUMMER OF SERIES with our NEW SERIES: Upstart Apostles. We get our inspiration for this series from Acts 4:1 of the MSG translation where the early followers of Jesus are labeled “Upstart Apostles.” This term encapsulates their trailblazing spirit! The apostles were starting something new, facing challenges, and yet their faith and resilience pushed them forward.

The Heart of Upstart Apostles

The early followers of Jesus were true pioneers. They started from scratch, driven by a bold idea, and their love for Jesus. They faced skepticism and opposition. However, their deep faith and reliance on the Holy Spirit empowered them to build a strong and world-changing community.

A Modern Parallel

In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak had a dream to change the world. So, the started to build the first personal computer in Job’s parent’s garage! The faced immense skepticism. But, they believed in their vision. Their passion and determination built not just products, but a movement that impacted the whole world. They faced financial challenges, competition, and internal conflict. Yet, their belief in their vision kept them going!

The Refuge Upstart

After Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the apostles became the upstart! Today, Refuge finds itself in a similar position. In this new series we will be exploring characteristics of a successful upstart and how Refuge can embody them. We will look at visionary leadership, innovative approaches, resilience, and our focus on our community.

Eight years ago, a bold vision for Refuge Church was cast. A different kind of church. A safe place for all people to find Jesus. Today, we continue that vision. While our techniques and ideas might look different, who we are will not change. Refuge is a safe place for all people to explore and restore their faith in Jesus and His church. A community of upstart apostles, ready to lead, innovate, and grow together.
