Hillsong Worship
In the conclusion of his CYS series, Pastor Brian takes us deeper into the idea of choosing our suffering. Will we take the path of growth and resilience over passive endurance? We are introduced to a talented young artist, Jacob Collier, who has been dubbed “the Gen Z Mozart”. Collier is shown as an example of someone who embraced the journey of mastering his craft over conventional youthful pursuits. This commitment to process over comfort set the stage for exploring how we all face similar choices.
This week we read Matthew 26 and look at pivotal moments faced by key biblical figures. Mary goes “all in” when she chooses to anoint Jesus with expensive perfume. Risking judgment and ostracism for a higher spiritual calling. In contrast, Peter chooses to fold, denying Jesus to avoid suffering, but ultimately losing far more — his peace and potential.
True commitment to our values often requires us to face and embrace significant suffering. Pastor Brian challenges us to examine what we truly value. Asking ourselves: “Am i ready to endure the necessary sacrifice to uphold these values?” This message isn’t just about resilience in the face of adversity, but about a deep self-reflection of our actions and choices. Are we like Mary? Ready to be everything on what be believe. Or do we find ourselves echoing Peter’s denial when faced with the high stakes.
Ultimately, CYS isn’t just about the suffering we endure but about intentionally aligning our values with our daily decisions. In this, making sure that even in suffering there is a purpose that leads to greater fulfillment and joy!
This message is for anyone standing at life’s crossroads, deciding which form of suffering to embrace to remain true to themselves and their faith.
