Big Dreams. Big Plans.

It’s hard not to think that big equates to success. But success looks different to everybody. So, what if there’s actually strength in smallness. In this bottle episode, Pastor Nicole reminds us that smallness isn’t a weakness but a gift. A gift that allows us to focus on deep relationships, meaningful growth, and sacrificial love.

Why Small Matters

Jesus models smallness throughout his life and ministry.

  • He was born in a small town.
  • Surrounded himself with a small group of friends.
  • He valued small acts of faith, like the widow’s offering in Mark 12.

In Luke 15, Jesus teaches his disciples that it is better to leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep. He taught us that even the smallest moments, actions, and people have big significance. At Refuge, our smallness allows us to focus on what matters most: faithfulness, love, and the Gospel.

Deep Roots

Small doesn’t mean shallow. At Refuge, we believe it’s actually the opposite. So, we strive for deep connections:

  • Deep relationships with God.
  • Deep connections with one another.
  • Deep roots in our community.

Like a plant with strong roots, our smallness gives us the foundation to grow steadily and naturally. It’s not about forcing big numbers but nurturing what we already have.

A Safe Place for ALL PEOPLE!

Refuge is a church of misfits. A place where everyone belongs. This means:

  • Embracing people from all walks of life.
  • Offering rest and healing to the weary.
  • Creating a safe space for questions, doubt, and growth.

Our mission isn’t to be the biggest church, but a place of deep, meaningful impact!

Moving Forward Together

We don’t need big crowds or flashy programs to make a difference. Through small, faithful steps, we’ll create something beautiful and lasting together, finding our strength in smallness.

Pastor Nicole reminds us of Refuge’s vision: to be a small, strong community that embodies Jesus’ love. She shared her heartfelt commitment to leading with humility, honesty, and transparency. Refuge all continue to be a place where ALL PEOPLE are welcome, their voices are heard, and relationships are valued.
